MODERN VILLA INSPIRED BY ITALIAN CLASSICISM
“Designer Mary Spalding and her husband Michael have gone antique hunting on many trips to Italy. It was only a matter of time, they now say that they would fall in love with the beautiful Renaissance architecture of Andrea Palladio and would long to enjoy it, somehow, in their daily lives back home in the States. After much consideration, the couple decided to build their own modem interpretation of Villa Trissino, a mostly sixteenth-century house associated with Palladio in his early days as a stonemason around Vicenza…
Though she had never before built a house for her own use, the Nashville designer was confident she could adapt classical Italian principles to her contemporary aesthetic and practical needs. She and her doctor-husband enlisted New York-Based architect Brian O’Keefe to create a fluid floor plan. Working together, designer and architect made the living room, conservatory, kitchen and library the core spaces on the main level. The master bedroom is also on the first floor, with guest rooms upstairs.” – Excerpt, Veranda.
